Amy's Bio

Amy Ford Souders is a founding member of Cornerstone, bringing with her more than thirty years of legislative, consulting and political experience. Amy focuses on public health, education and other public interest issues, with a proven track record of effectively adding important issues to the public agenda and dramatically advancing client funding and networks.

Amy currently serves as the executive director of the 317 Coalition, a national advocacy network made up of over 160 advocacy groups,  professional and academic associations and vaccine manufacturers that support and advocate for the CDC immunization program. The Coalition also helps local and state organizations without resources of their own to stay abreast of and advocate for the CDC’s immunization efforts.  Amy is also the co-principal investigator for a grant focused on public health which is supported by the nation’s largest philanthropic organization dedicated to health.

Prior to her move to D.C., Amy served as deputy treasurer for a successful U.S. Senate campaign. In this capacity, she was responsible for building grassroots support for the candidate while ensuring that the campaign complied with Federal Election Commission regulations. Over the course of her career she has assisted in various roles on numerous political campaigns at every level, from mayoral campaigns to those of U.S. Representatives, Senators and the President of the United States.

The company’s sole woman and person of color in leadership at its founding, Amy has served on the board of Cornerstone since inception in 2002 and is proud to have helped Cornerstone to become a more welcoming, diverse institution that is one of the nation’s leaders in governmental relations.  She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Marquette University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she earned a B.A. in History, and is an active, long-standing member of the Board of Visitors for the Les Aspin Center for Government in Washington, D.C. Amy is a member of the Illinois Group and Illinois State Society where she had successful terms as president of the Illinois Group and served as a board member of the Illinois State Society.

Passionate about public health and the empowerment of women, Amy is a proud mother and wife, a tennis fanatic and a long-time Cubs season ticket holder.
