Stacey's Bio
Stacey is an attorney by training and has a background in lobbying compliance, ethics, and election law. Throughout her career, she has applied her legal knowledge in diverse job settings including private philanthropy, the federal government, and state agencies. At Cornerstone, she serves as a senior manager of compliance and counsel and brings over a decade of experience simplifying complex regulations and processes into practical and actionable guidance.Previously, she served as an associate attorney at the Gober Group, where she provided quick and reliable government engagement advice to dozens of clients daily and worked to standardize compliance practices across the firm.
Before practicing law, Stacey spent five years at Democracy Fund as a senior associate managing a portfolio of grants to non-profits focused on election and campaign finance reform. She also served for several years as a program analyst for the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program where she was a liaison between state and local election agencies and the department on military and overseas voting issues. In this role, she created extensive voting resources for the public and trained hundreds of local election officials on federal laws. Stacey also has experience with candidates, donors, and the media through her work in state politics –she held many roles with the Nebraska Republican Party from 2005-2009, including communications director.
Stacey holds a law degree and legislative certificate from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The daughter of Air Force parents, Stacey grew up in many states and outside of the U.S. but calls herself a Midwesterner. She now lives in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and toddler son. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and volunteers her time with Young Life, a national youth organization; her church, Restoration Church DC; and the Center for Christian Civics. She enjoys live music, Nebraska Cornhusker football, calligraphy and hand lettering.
