Madeline's Bio

Madeline Van Aken joined Cornerstone as a Compliance Manager in December of 2024. In this role, she works with the firm’s Operations department and assists the Senior Compliance Manager & Counsel in managing the firm’s ethics reporting and contractual matters and works closely with outside counsel on any related matters, as necessary. Madeline comes to Cornerstone following her time at Wiley Rein, where she held two roles since she joined the firm in 2019. Most recently, she served as a Legislative & Reporting Coordinator, where she developed and implemented a new management system to collect and archive client reporting data and track filings. As part of this, she coordinated with stakeholders to manage their government affairs activity in compliance with state, local and federal lobbying deadlines, laws and regulations. She also researched and tracked relevant policy issues, legislation, rulemaking and other federal government actions relevant to clients. During her time at Wiley Rein, Madeline also served as an Election Law Specialist, conducting extensive legal research on lobbyists, lobbying firms, Super PACs and industry trends to monitor and report on news relevant to clients. She also observed and tracked government filings to produce internal and external memos of findings and assisted in preparing Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) reports. Madeline earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from The University of Lynchburg. She also earned a graduate certificate in Health Policy from Georgetown University, McCourt School of Public Policy.
