Macey's Bio

Macey Hammerstrom joined Cornerstone in March of 2023 to support our federal government relations team in D.C. As an associate, she primarily services clients in the food and agriculture space by providing agriculture issue monitoring, facilitating legislative advocacy and outreach and conducting policy research and analysis.

Macey previously served as a graduate research assistant at the Texas A&M Agricultural and Food Policy Center (AFPC). In this role, she assisted AFPC staff with research and projects on current agriculture policy issues, in addition to providing producers direct communication on policy decisions and assistance with AFPC policy tools. She also served as a lead teaching assistant for coursework in agriculture and food policy, where she collectively oversaw 500+ students over the span of several semesters.

Prior to her time at AFPC, Macey was a congressional intern for the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture. In this role, Macey assisted in the preparation of multiple committee hearings and researched targeted agriculture policies to help prepare thoughtful witness questions for Member use. She also participated in webinars and briefings related to agriculture issues while taking detailed notes on behalf of committee professional staff.

Additionally, Macey served as an agency intern at the Texas State Office with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency, where she worked in the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) Call Center in the early stages of the original program roll-out to help assist agricultural producers nationwide.

Originally from a production agriculture background in the Central Valley of California, Macey graduated from Texas A&M University with her bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and minor in business administration in May of 2021. She is currently finishing up her Master of Science in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University, where her thesis research focuses on agriculture disaster assistance and the role of the farm safety net.
