Karyn's Bio
Karyn Richman, a member of the firm’s national security and health teams, has more than 20 years of legislative and political experience, along with a broad and diverse set of bipartisan relationships. She has significant expertise in national security, public health, and appropriations.Prior to joining Cornerstone, Karyn was a professional staff member on the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Homeland Security. In this role, she was responsible for the appropriations and oversight of $13 billion in resources for the U.S. Coast Guard. She had previously served on the committee from 2007-2011 and rejoined in 2017. Before rejoining the committee, she led the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Washington Office as the acting director and deputy director, developing and implementing the agency’s strategic and legislative goals. Prior to that, she worked at the Office of Budget at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the branch chief for science and regulatory affairs.
Karyn’s career in Washington began with a six-year tenure at the Office of Management and Budget, focusing on homeland security, emergency and public health preparedness, and biodefense issues. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia University. Karyn lives in Washington, D.C. with her two sons.
