During the legislative session, she attends hearings, manages bill declarations, drafts weekly newsletters, performs legislative research and policy analysis and tracks legislation for clients. Throughout the year, she also handles association management, manages ethics reporting and registration requirements and creates various political and policy memos and reports for clients.

Prior to Cornerstone, Isabel spent several years as a Fiscal Legislative Analyst with the Iowa Legislative Services Agency. In this role, she staffed the Justice System Appropriations Subcommittee and gained a thorough understanding of Iowa’s legislative process. She researched and tracked legislation, prepared fiscal impact estimates for proposed bills, supported legislators in crafting the state budget, planned meetings and events and drafted educational documents for legislators and the public.

Before the Legislative Services Agency, Isabel worked as a Statewide Technical Assistance Coordinator for a housing and homelessness nonprofit through AmeriCorps VISTA. She regularly performed research, analyzed data, presented her findings and recommendations and collaborated with board members in support of programs. She also worked in the Office of the Attorney General of Iowa as a Consumer Protection Division Intern.

Originally from Des Moines, Isabel received her bachelor’s degree in public administration from Harding University in Arkansas and returned to her home state of Iowa upon graduation.
