Daniel's Bio
Daniel Boan joined Cornerstone in August of 2024, launching the firm’s South Carolina office and expanding our southern reach and capabilities.Prior to Cornerstone, Daniel spent 13 years with the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he served in several roles with the 25-member Ways and Means Committee. Most recently, he held the position of Chief of Staff and Legal Counsel, where he advised the chairman and the committee members on the drafting of the state’s annual budget and on legislation related to tax, fiscal policy and administration of state government. He also provided counsel to the committee on strategy, communication, legal and constitutional issues and parliamentary procedure.
Daniel served as Chief of Staff for four committee chairmen, including the current Chairman Bruce Bannister and former Chairman and current Speaker of the House Murrell Smith.
Daniel also acted as the primary staff liaison to the Joint Bond Review Committee and State Fiscal Accountability Authority. His previous roles with the House of Representatives include Budget Director, where he was lead staffer on the development of the state’s then-$26 billion budget, Staff Attorney, and Budget Analyst, where he focused on economic development, capital improvement and tax legislation.
Prior to these positions, Daniel served as an Attorney and Consultant for Strategic Consulting Services LLC, which he founded in 2005, where he advised clients on legal issues, policy, communication and strategy.
Daniel received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a political science minor from the University of South Carolina. He also holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law and is a member of the South Carolina Bar.
