Erin Axson and Devin Wiser to Lead Cornerstone’s New Salt Lake City Office
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — September 8, 2026 — Cornerstone Government Affairs, an employee-owned, bipartisan government relations, public affairs and consulting firm, today announced the opening of a Salt Lake City office, strengthening its presence across the Mountain West. Cornerstone’s Utah office will be anchored by local government relations veterans Erin Axson and Devin Wiser, who both join the firm as Principals.
“Utah is home to growing technology, aerospace and defense, healthcare and finance sectors which are shaping important policy conversations at the state and federal levels,” Cornerstone President Campbell Kaufman said. “With Erin and Devin joining Cornerstone, we are further strengthening our ability to help clients navigate Utah’s policy priorities and engage effectively with decision-makers in Salt Lake City and beyond.”
Erin Axson, a renowned GOP strategist, brings a broad background in government affairs, advocacy, business and nonprofit leadership, which she leverages to help clients build relationships, communicate their priorities and navigate the legislative process. Her public policy experience includes work at both the state and national level, with an emphasis on relationship building, communication and helping organizations engage effectively in the policy process.
Axson previously worked for the Utah Republican Party, where she supported fundraising and event planning around the state’s Republican Convention. She is a sought-after Consultant, having worked with several local and national youth tobacco prevention alliances and as well as with DaVinci Group on policy advocacy projects involving the Republican Governors Association.
Earlier in her career, Axson spent over a decade working on projects with organizations including Columbia TriStar, Costco and PBS. In these roles, she oversaw organizational priorities, developed and maintained key relationships, worked to understand the interests of the people on each side of the table and moved projects toward successful outcomes. That experience became a natural foundation for government affairs, where Axson uses many of those same skills to represent organizations and their interests in the policy process.
Axson also served as Executive Director of The Signing Time Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to connect deaf children in Ghana with access to sign language.
“I’m excited to join Cornerstone and help build its presence in Utah. Cornerstone brings an exceptional national reputation, deep expertise and a client-first approach that will be a tremendous asset in our state,” Axson said. “As Utah continues to grow and increases its national influence, I look forward to pairing Cornerstone’s national capabilities with strong local relationships to deliver meaningful results for our clients and our state.”
Devin Wiser brings an extensive background higher education policy, having spent over five years leading government relations for Utah State University (USU) and Weber State University.
Prior to Cornerstone, Wiser served as Vice President of Government Relations at USU. In this role, he oversaw all government relations activities for the university, including development and implementation of federal and state legislative priorities. He also served as USU’s external liaison by developing and communicating strategies for its campuses, centers and offices throughout the state and managed USU’s Institute of Government and Politics.
Wiser previously served as Weber State University’s Executive Director of Government Relations and Executive Director of the Walker Institute of Politics and Public Service. In that role, he led university advocacy efforts with Utah’s federal delegation and the state Legislature.
Wiser began his career in the office of U.S. Representative Rob Bishop (R-UT), where he served in various roles, including Chief of Staff. Prior to becoming Chief, he was Deputy Chief Counsel for the Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives.
“Cornerstone’s reputation for strategic advocacy and team-first culture is second to none,” Wiser said. “Having spent my career working at the intersection of government advocacy, public policy and the legislative process in Utah and D.C., I’m excited to join the firm at such a pivotal moment. I look forward to working alongside Erin to deliver exceptional service and results to our clients across the Beehive State.”
“It’s a privilege to welcome Erin and Devin to the Cornerstone team,” Cornerstone Principal Tyler Nelson said. “These two incredible leaders offer first-in-class expertise on state and local politics and will be invaluable to our clients as we grow our presence in Salt Lake City.”
In addition to government relations, Cornerstone will offer public relations and strategic communications, business advisory and consulting services to organizations across Utah.
