Cornerstone to Welcome Health Policy Expert Una Lee as Principal

Lee brings decades of experience in federal health policy, congressional oversight and bipartisan policy negotiations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 17, 2026 — Cornerstone Government Affairs, an employee-owned, bipartisan government relations, public affairs and consulting firm, today announced that veteran health care policy expert Una Lee will join the firm as a Principal on October 15. Lee brings over a decade of experience leading federal health policy development, congressional oversight and bipartisan negotiations, and will further strengthen Cornerstone’s ability to serve clients navigating complex health policy issues before Congress and federal agencies.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Cornerstone’s bipartisan team in October,” Lee said. “After 17 years of public service, leaving the Hill was a difficult decision, but one I could make knowing I will be a part of a team of incredibly talented, collaborative and public-minded individuals. I’m excited for this next chapter working with Cornerstone to help clients tackle complex challenges and navigate an ever-changing health policy landscape.”

Lee comes to Cornerstone after serving as Chief Counsel of the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee under Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ). In this role, she managed a team which covered the health portfolio within the Committee’s jurisdiction, including private insurance, Medicare Parts B, C and D, Medicaid and public health.

During her decade-long tenure with the Committee, Lee led bicameral and bipartisan negotiations and Committee and House action on major health legislation, including the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, the No Surprises Act, the American Rescue Plan Act (P.L. 117-7), the Inflation Reduction Act, and the health title of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, including the Preparing for and Responding to Existing Viruses, Emerging New Threats, and Pandemics Act (PREVENTS), the Food and Drug Omnibus Reform Act of 2025 (FDORA), the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MOCRA), and the Advanced Research Projects Agency—Health Act (ARPA-H Act).

Previously, she served as Senior Counsel for Ranking Member Pallone, handling legislation on the private insurance market, including the Affordable Care Act and Medicare.  She also began her career on the Energy and Commerce Committee on the Oversight and Investigations Committee, and spearheaded the Democratic response to numerous high profile investigations.  Prior to her time on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Lee served as Chief Health Counsel for House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Ranking Member Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD).

Earlier in her career, Lee worked as a Trial Attorney in the Department of Justice Civil Fraud Section, prosecuting health care fraud qui tam cases on behalf of the United States and clerked for Judge Timothy B. Dyk of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She also worked in the office of Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) and on the presidential campaign of John Kerry.

“Una brings exceptional depth to Cornerstone’s health practice group,” Cornerstone’s Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Gonella said. “Her experience leading complex health policy work on Capitol Hill, advising senior lawmakers and negotiating bipartisan legislation will be invaluable to clients in this space.”

The Cornerstone health team represents a broad and diverse base of clients that includes hospitals and healthcare delivery providers, public health organizations, universities, coalitions, manufacturing and information technology companies, philanthropic organizations and patient advocacy groups, and medical and professional health associations.
