Longtime renewable and clean energy expert joins firm, expanding Cornerstone’s presence into the Northeast
Cornerstone Government Affairs today announced the addition of Mike Cuzzi to its federal government relations team. Mike possesses nearly two decades of experience working with businesses, industry associations, and political leaders, as well as extensive experience advocating before federal legislative and regulatory bodies.
As a principal, Mike will focus on energy, climate and environmental issues for Cornerstone clients. Prior to joining Cornerstone, he founded SRL Strategies, a consulting firm that developed and delivered customized public policy, external affairs and stakeholder engagement solutions for technologically diverse clean energy clients. Based in Maine, Mike will also expand Cornerstone’s reach into the Northeast.
Before SRL Strategies, Mike served as a senior director of government affairs and policy for Brookfield Renewable in New York, where he set strategic goals and managed day-to-day tactical execution of legislative and regulatory advocacy within North America. Mike also served as a senior vice president for VOX Global, where he launched and managed operations in New England and initiated the company’s Energy Practice Group. During his time at VOX, Mike also built and managed a portfolio of Northeast and Washington, DC energy clients.
“Cornerstone brings an unparalleled depth of policy expertise and advocacy experience to support clients across the clean energy sector,” Cuzzi said. “I’m proud to join the talented group of Cornerstone professionals who will help shape the climate, energy and ESG policies of the future.”
Additionally, Mike possesses extensive political campaign experience and relationships, having previously served in senior positions on both presidential and congressional campaigns. As the political director and deputy state director for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential primary campaign, Mike built the Obama campaign organization in New Hampshire from the ground up, hiring staff, managing all political relationships and growing the organization from five to more than 105 staffers in 16 offices statewide.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Mike join the firm,” said Campbell Kaufman, managing director for state government relations. “The geographic diversity he brings to Cornerstone, as well as his energy and environment expertise, particularly in the area of Environmental Social Governance (ESG), will be of huge benefit to our existing and future clients.”
