(Frankfort, Ky.) – Cornerstone Government Affairs announced today the addition of former Policy Advisor to the Kentucky House Democratic Leadership Office Sarah Bowling and former Policy Advisor for the Kentucky House Speaker’s Office Corey Elder to the firm. Bowling and Elder together possess more than a decade of government relations experience throughout Kentucky and will help clients craft effective strategies to achieve their policy priorities.
As Policy Advisor to the Kentucky House Democratic Leadership Office since 2017, Bowling built and maintained strong relationships with members to successfully present legislation analysis to both sides of the aisle. In this role, Bowling focused on handling committee coverage and providing policy analysis to all members of the Democratic Caucus. Her responsibilities included legislative policy development and support, bill drafting and strategy guidance, monitoring legislative session and joint interim committees. In addition, Bowling researched existing policies and procedures to gain a firm understanding of current legislative and political conditions.
Previously, Bowling also served as a Social Media Manager in the House Democratic Leadership Office, where she crafted and implemented a social media strategy as well at the publication of the monthly newsletter.
“I am excited to embark on a new chapter with Cornerstone,” Bowling said. “I look forward to leveraging my expertise to navigate the intersection of policy and advocacy, fostering meaningful connections, and driving impactful change for our communities.”
Elder joins Cornerstone after serving most recently as a Field Representative to Congressman James Comer’s (R-KY) Office in Madisonville, Kentucky, where he collaborated with the Chief of Staff, District Director and D.C. team to align district priorities with legislative initiatives. Elder also acted as an official representative of Congressman Comer at events, articulating his positions and values to influential community leaders and grassroots networks.
Previously, Elder served for more than two years as a Policy Advisor for the Kentucky House Speaker’s Office, managing legislative committees and addressing policy needs for the Speaker’s Leadership team. In addition, Elder delivered legislative updates and briefings to the Speaker and Members, represented the Speaker’s office in statewide meetings, conducted in-depth research on committee legislative issues and collaborated with the communications team for the drafting of press releases.
“I am thrilled to join Cornerstone, a firm distinguished for its commitment to excellence and impactful advocacy,” Elder said. “Drawing on my experience serving under the State and Federal Legislative bodies, I am eager to contribute to Cornerstone’s Kentucky office. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to advance our commitment to making a positive impact for our clients and the broader community.”
Bowling and Elder join Katelyn Bunning, Karen Kelly and Ethan Witt in Cornerstone’s Frankfort office.
“We’re continuing to invest in the Kentucky market and are thrilled to have Sarah and Corey join the team,” firm President Campbell Kaufman said. “Their expertise and relationships will undoubtedly help us grow throughout the state.”
