Chris' Bio

Chris Hodgson joined Cornerstone’s federal government relations team as a principal in March 2021.  Chris brings extensive knowledge of the legislative process and relationships spanning the U.S. House, Senate, and executive branch through his work on Capitol Hill and in the Office of Vice President Mike Pence.

Prior to joining Cornerstone, Chris served as director of legislative affairs to Vice President Mike Pence. As the Vice President’s top liaison to Congress, Chris managed relationships with House and Senate leadership, congressional committees and caucuses, and members of Congress, while working to coordinate and execute efforts to achieve the Administration’s legislative priorities. These legislative priorities included the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Right to Try, USMCA, U.S. Space Force, and CARES Act. Additionally, Chris managed incoming COVID-19 inquiries from members of Congress and provided regular updates to Capitol Hill on the efforts of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

Chris served in the Office of Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) from 2014 to 2017 as floor assistant and then deputy floor director. In his role as deputy floor director, Chris helped guide critical bills, such as healthcare reform, Trade Promotion Authority, and 21st Century Cures, through the legislative process and worked with Members and their staff to address policy concerns and promote their legislative priorities.

Chris began his career on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant for Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), then Chairman of the Republican Study Committee. In this role, he handled a wide range of policy issues including healthcare, defense, appropriations, and education, as well as Rep. Scalise’s portfolio on the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Prior to his government service, Chris was an associate at Cornerstone from 2010 to 2013 where he worked closely with our health team. A native Washingtonian, Chris received his BA in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
