Cornerstone Government Affairs Adds Ways & Means Tax Counsel Staffer

Washington, D.C. – Cornerstone Government Affairs announced Monday the addition of John Sandell, as a Senior Vice President to the firm. John comes to the firm after having spent the past seven years on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee Staff.

John previously held the position Tax Counsel for the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee Tax Staff, where he provided advice, staffed, and briefed the Chairman, Members and senior staff on tax law and tax policy. In this position, John served Chairman Kevin Brady, former Chairman Paul Ryan, and former Chairman Dave Camp. John’s expertise developed through the drafting and advancement of various tax legislation including: the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; the 2015 PATH Act and CR/Omnibus; the FAST Act; the American Health Care Act; the King v. Burwell plan; the Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014, the 2014 Camp Draft, and the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, among others. Prior to his position as Tax Counsel, John served the Committee as a law clerk, utilizing the law degree he received from George Mason School of Law.
