Cornerstone Government Affairs Adds Homeland Security and Defense Expert to Growing National Security Practice

Connie LaRossa, former senior official at the Department of Homeland Security, joins the firm on June 10

(WASHINGTON) – Cornerstone Government Affairs, a leading, bipartisan public affairs firm with federal and state reach, announced that Connie LaRossa joins the firm as a Senior Vice President on June 10.  Connie has significant experience working with Capitol Hill and the Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Defense (DoD), as well as the Intelligence Community.

She most recently served as a National Security Principal for General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), where she supported business development efforts at the Department of Homeland Security.  Before joining the private sector, Connie spent over a decade working in various roles within DHS and DoD, including Deputy Assistant Secretary for House Affairs at DHS, Legislative Director at DHS, and Legislative and Public Affairs Officer at DoD. Her time at DHS and DoD afforded her the experience of navigating the legislative branch authorization and appropriations processes, as well as executive branch interagency policymaking at the highest levels of government. Connie managed rapid response teams and messaging during national security emergencies and continues to maintain robust relationships with committee members and staffers across the aisle on Capitol Hill.

“We are thrilled to be adding someone of Connie’s caliber to the Cornerstone team,” said Michelle Mrdeza, former Staff Director of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security and Cornerstone Senior Consultant and Director. “Connie’s expertise is invaluable as we continue to grow our national security practice.”

“It is an honor to be joining the world-class team at Cornerstone Government Affairs, who are widely-recognized for their best-in-class client solutions,” said Connie LaRossa. “I have been impressed with the breadth and depth of Cornerstone’s capabilities in national and homeland security and am thrilled to be part of their future as they are well-positioned to successfully navigate the most complex challenges of tomorrow.”
