When One Door Closes, Another Opens

While that phrase is normally figurative in nature, for Cornerstone Government Affairs, today the phrase literally represents our reality.

After 15 years of quiet, steady growth in our current location, we have officially moved our D.C. office from the corner of 3rd and Independence Avenue, SE to the 7th floor of 800 Maine Avenue, SW.  We leave behind great memories and a strong record of success.  We take with us our commitment to the team approach and the passion for client service that has fueled our growth.

This office move marks the start of a new chapter for Cornerstone.   We are thrilled to be up and running in the heart of the Southwest Waterfront, in the shadow of the US Capitol, and as part of one of the most transformative development projects in the City’s history.

While we look forward to sharing the new office with our clients and other friends of the firm, one thing is clear – the Wharf is re-establishing Washington, D.C., as a waterfront city and destination.  The Wharf reclaims a remarkable, mile-long stretch along the Potomac River. It is comprised of 24 acres of land and 50 acres of water and includes the oldest (200 years) continuously operating open-air fish market in the United States.  There are three unique hotels, a 6,000-person-capacity concert hall (the Anthem), a conference center and four public piers with an extensive water taxi system. The entire development is linked by a waterside promenade with more than 75 restaurants and shops.

Despite all the excitement and amazing amenities, many people have asked why we are moving and why now.

The answer is threefold.  First, the reality is that we outgrew our former space with no options for expansion.  Second, we discovered that a newly designed office space will improve our client service and enhance our culture, work environment and business model.  Finally, as we explored different venues in D.C., we were overwhelmed by the opportunities and benefits of moving to The Wharf.

Over the past several years, we have been fortunate to add many outstanding professionals to our team.  In doing so, we have strengthened our commitment to the team approach and to providing our clients with a full complement of services and capabilities.

Though we have always prided ourselves on our team culture, we have learned over the years that having team members spread across four floors sometimes presents challenges.  In our new space, we will enjoy over 20,000 square feet on a single floor, with several options for meeting and event space as well as an amazing rooftop deck with expansive views of Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area.

We look forward to introducing everyone to both our new office and the entire Wharf community.
