Terry Van Doren has nearly three decades of legislative and policy experience having served in key legislative roles for U.S. Senate leaders and major agricultural organizations. With his extensive background in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure, Terry brings valuable insight into the firm.

Before joining Cornerstone, Terry was the Senior Policy Advisor for U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), where he provided guidance on key issues, including agriculture, energy, environment and infrastructure. Terry played a significant part in advancing major bipartisan legislation, such as the bipartisan infrastructure law (IIJA), the Great American Outdoors Act, multiple farm bills, Water Resource Development Acts, comprehensive energy legislation, public lands legislation and FAA reauthorization.

Prior to this role, Terry was the Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE), where he led a legislative team yielding successful bipartisan initiatives that garnered supermajority support in the U.S. Senate.

Other positions Terry held include Political Appointee for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Legislative Director and Agricultural Policy Director for the Office of U.S. Senator Peter G. Fitzgerald (R-IL), and Associate Director of Agriculture Policy for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Terry received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois and his Master of Agriculture degree from Colorado State University. Terry grew up on his family’s grain and livestock farm in Illinois, which he still owns and operates today.
