Steve's Bio

Steve Marchese is a subject matter expert in foreign affairs and the Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development and international organizations, possessing senior-level experience within the Administration and on Capitol Hill. He has 30 years of public service involvement, including 22 years on the House Appropriations Committee. Steve has developed an excellent, bipartisan reputation and a broad and diverse network of relationships.

At Cornerstone, he brings extensive appropriations knowledge and provides support to our national security clients, particularly defense clients interested in foreign military sales and financing. He also works with several of our university clients who are engaged in global health programs.

Before joining Cornerstone, Steve served as the staff director of the Legislative Branch subcommittee and prior to that, he spent 15 years on the State & Foreign Operations subcommittee, 10 years of which he served as staff director. Prior to the Appropriations Committee, Steve spent seven years at the Department of State in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs for both Democratic and Republican Administrations, where he received two Superior Honor Awards and one Meritorious Honor Award. Before the Department of State, he worked on the Hill for multiple members of the Illinois Congressional delegation in the House and Senate. Steve holds a B.S. from Illinois State University.
