Rick's Bio
Rick Zampelli, a national security and defense policy expert, joined Cornerstone in September 2023. He comes to Cornerstone with 29 years of U.S. Army experience, most recently serving as the director of the Army Liaison Office to the U.S. House of Representatives. In this role, he served as the Army’s direct representative on Capitol Hill, facilitating engagements with Members of Congress and Congressional staff to include testimony, key leader engagements, responses to inquiry and oversight and travel. He synchronized the communications and engagement strategy for Congressional and Army senior leader engagements and Congressional delegations traveling world-wide.Prior to this role, Rick served as the chief of staff for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. In this role, he supervised the principal staff of the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command with the primary purpose of providing sustainable material readiness across Army aviation and missile units. Rick’s Army background includes experience as a special operations aviator, serving in both the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and U.S. Special Operations Command. Rick also commanded an aviation squadron in the 82d Airborne Division and the Army’s aviation maintenance training brigade, and he served as a flight instructor.
Rick holds a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
