Melissa's Bio
Melissa Ayala Porte joined Cornerstone in April 2020. In her role as a Senior Manager, Melissa handles the day-to-day operational aspects of the firm as they relate to human resources, employee engagement, vendor relations and operational efficiencies.Melissa came to Cornerstone from NPR, where she worked as an HR Operations Coordinator in NPR’s Human Resources department. During her time with NPR, Melissa worked with multiple business aspects. She was responsible for onboarding new hires every other week, running data reporting to multiple stakeholders in the organization, providing insight and support into improving processes, and revising policies.
Prior to joining NPR, Melissa worked at Casey Family Programs as an Office Administrator for their DC office. At Casey Family Programs, Melissa’s responsibilities included serving as a liaison for the HR department by overseeing the employee life cycle and supervising new administrative staff. She was also lead logistics for event planning at a national level, which included providing budget monitoring.
Melissa was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico where she received her bachelor’s in psychology from the Universidad de Monterrey. Melissa moved to Washington, D.C. eight years ago to study Business and Human Resources. Melissa earned her SHRM-CP certification in 2018 and her master’s degree from Georgetown University. She currently resides in Washington, D.C. with her fiancé. When Melissa is not studying, she spends her free time at the gym or camping and hiking.
