John Scott joined Cornerstone in July 2022 as an associate on the firm’s federal government relations team in Washington, D.C.

Prior to Cornerstone, John was a business strategist at the Wake Forest School of Medicine Strategic Initiatives at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. In this role, John facilitated and managed the accreditation process and portfolio data analysis for confidential quarterly projects that covered the 24,000 learner-focused health system. Additionally, he designed and implemented a five-year strategic improvement plan for student inclusion and diversity, resulting in the pipeline, recruitment, retention of underrepresented minority students at the medical school and an $8 million increase in aid.

Before that, he was a presidential fellow for Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he provided project management support to the Childress Institute to convene the Pediatric Trauma Caucus panel with NASCAR driver Richard Childress, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) and Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC). He also scheduled calendars and managed external meetings for the international behavioral health summit in San Diego, CA, hosted by The Carter Center based in Atlanta, GA.

John has experience developing his own business, Jack and Bob’s Moving Company. He created a two-year business plan resulting in the cost-efficient loading, packing/unpacking of items, and the dissembling and assembling of furniture for residential and commercial accounts.

John holds a bachelor’s in economics with a minor in philosophy from Wake Forest University.
